Kimitoshi Yamane was born in 1966 in Shimane Prefecture. He joined the anime production company Artmic as a mechanical designer. Some of his notable works as a mechanical designer include "Mobile Fighter G Gundam" (1994), "Saint Tail" (1996), "Infinite Ryvius" (1999), "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" (2002), and "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin" (2015).
