Burson Audio

V7 Opamps (Vivid / Classic)

The 7th Revolution

Twenty years ago, we embarked on a mission to create a discrete operational amplifier (opamp) that could seamlessly fit into an 8-pin DIP socket, effectively replacing integrated circuit (IC) opamps.

Little did we know, this endeavor would mark the beginning of an extraordinary journey, connecting us (humble boyz from Oz) with passionate audio enthusiasts, skilled recording engineers, and amazing musicians from all over the world.

Each update to the Burson opamp reflects our evolving understanding of what defines good sound and how we can achieve it with new insights. These revisions also symbolize the invaluable support we’ve received along the way, including insightful feedback from thousands of customers and guidance from mentors such as the late Maestro Israel Yinon, and renowned recording engineers such as Shawn Sulliv and Manny Marroquin.

When you use the V7, you’re immersing yourself in a journey enriched by its contributors’ passion and our collective love for music.

Heritage and Innovation

The V7 Vivid stands out for its dynamism, clarity, and accuracy. It is an ideal choice for recording engineers who prioritize absolute precision. Particularly recommended for the initial output stages of DACs (Digital-to-Analog Converters), the V7 Vivid excels where transparency is most valued.

On the other hand, the V7 Classic can be likened to a perfect seasoning that enhances a meal. It features a completely redesigned output stage, addressing the limitations of its predecessor, the V6 Classic. The V7 Classic now matches the ultra-low noise level of the V7 Vivid, while maintaining the beloved intimate vocals and sparkling highs that fans of V6 Classic appreciate. Additionally, it offers improved dynamics and accuracy in the lower frequencies, striking an ideal balance between enjoyment and seriousness.

Layered to Perfection

The V7 opamp is meticulously constructed using up to eight layers in its PCB design. This approach strategically separates the signal path, grounding, and shielding into distinct layers. Although this method is more costly, it’s the ideal approach for designing analog amplification circuits. As a result, the V7 is not only more compact and practical but also features a shorter, optimized signal path. Additionally, its enhanced design provides superior protection against airborne interference.”

The Max Current Heatsink

The V7 is engineered to operate at high temperatures. To manage this, it is equipped with a new high-density aluminum shell. This shell effectively dissipates heat from each layer of the PCB into the air, while also safeguarding the sensitive components within.

This functional and sleek design allows the V7 to work with a higher idling current, enhancing audio quality and improving stability.

Vivid VS. Classic

Unsurpassed Quality

Like our passion for audio, our opamps are built to last a lifetime. With the reverse voltage protection, demonstrates our commitment to quality and our care for the investments of our customers and manufacturing partners.

Component selection and matching are not only critical for sound quality but also for safety. Burson uses only the finest components, which are painstakingly matched and tuned in a temperature-controlled environment that simulates real-world operations. Only after this rigorous process do they earn the Burson badge.
